What is QuickRun?

QuickRun is a handy quick-launch utility and system tray organizer for Windows 95/98/NT/2000/ME. It provides a popup menu beside the system tray for favorite applications, files or folders. It also includes a tray manager feature that reduces clutter in your system tray by providing a popup menu for you to move the tray icons into. Menus for Control Panel, Desktop, Favorites and My Documents are also provided. All of QuickRun's menus are fully customizable and cascade to show subfolders and folder contents. Other features include support for menu item renaming and arrangement, Drag and Drop, hotkey access and floating toolbar.

How do I choose which menus I want QuickRun to display?

Quickrun is highly customizable. To see the available menus, right click on the QuickRun icon in the toolbar and select "Customize". Click on the "Menus" button. Available menus are shown in the window, with currently displayed windows having a check mark next to them. You may select or deselect any of the menus for display at any time from this window. You can also add a new menu from here by clicking the "New" button and providing the required information.

How do I add programs to a QuickRun menu?

There are two ways to add a program to a QuickRun Menu:

Method Number 1:

  1. Right-click on a QuickRun menu and click Add Program.
  2. Enter the path and name of the program in the Program Location box, or click Browse.
  3. Click Next.
  4. Enter the name you want to be displayed on the menu.
  5. Click Next.
  6. Select the icon for the program and click Finish.

Method Number 2:

You can also add a program to a QuickRun menu by dragging it to a menu button from the Start Menu or from an Explorer window. Links from a web browser can also be added to a menu.

What is Hover Mode?

In Hover Mode, you can launch a QuickRun menu by merely holding the mouse pointer over one of the QuickRun icons, no clicking is necessary!

I have added my system tray icons to QuickRun's system tray menu, but when I start the computer some of them are back in the system tray, why?

When QuickRun is configured to start automatically with Windows, there can be timing conflicts between the starting of QuickRun and some system tray applications that have been configured to reside within the QuickRun Tray Menu. In the Options section of the Customize QuickRun window, there is a setting to adjust a delay in QuickRun starting. If you experience some tray icons "dropping" back out into the system tray at startup, this setting should be increased incrementally until all of the tray icons are retained by QuickRun during startup.
